Mechanical Design Services and CAD

Computer-aided design tools (or CAD), are the basis for development of any current engineering project. The CAD allows detailed 3D design in computer of all the parts that make up the project to be developed and the assembly of sets, ensuring their correct operation and avoiding mounting errors or incompatibilities between the pieces.

The professional CAD designer must keep in mind all the constructive requirements of each component that makes up the product, such as size, weight, hardness, rigidity and mechanical resistance, as well as practical aspects of product use, such as maintenance, mobility and ergonomics. It is also necessary to have in mind the manufacturing processes and materials to be used, in order to ensure the durability and reliability of the product while seeking simplification and project cost reduction.


From the 3D CAD design, 2D drawing of each project´s parts can be prepared and printed, which will later be used in the machining (manufacturing) steps.

The 2D drawings must be made as clear and simple as possible, and must have all the necessary information for their manufacturing, allowing easy interpretation by the professional who will perform the machining of the part.

For the preparation of 2D drawings ModelWorks uses to follow the ABNT standards for technical drawings (which stands for Brazilian Association of Technical Standards), unless specified differently by the customer.
